Computing Studies

Cromer Campus offers Information and Software Technology (IST) in Years 9 and 10 as well as various senior courses. These include Software Design and Development, Information Processes and Technology and the Information Technology course offered under the VET umbrella (ITVET).
The school focuses on the computing component of the syllabus in all subject areas as this is now an important component of the School Certificate. We have five rooms set up as dedicated computer rooms and we also run the new Information and Software Technology (IST) course developed for Years 9 and 10. The effort put into computing throughout the school can be seen in both the Trial School Certificate results and, most recently the results of the Australian Schools Computer Skills Competition.
Australian Schools Computer Skills Competition
In this competition Cromer always participates with outstanding success.
Cromer Campus continually updates its computer network and the process is ongoing.
Computer Rooms are completely upgraded with new IBM brand computers as departmental roll out permits. This has allowed us to increase the speed of data access on the network, improving the responsiveness of existing software and allowing us to plan for the future. New machines are continually installed into the Learning Centre as part of cur continued focus on teaching and learning.
SMART board technology has been introduced at Cromer. Presently the Library has SMART board technology and the school will be expanding the installation of this wonderful technology as we move forward.
Each computer in all five of our computer rooms also has filtered broadband internet access supplied from the Department of Education.
Computers have also been installed in the Careers Centre for students to access careers based websites and expand our School to Work program.
