Mentor Program

THE LEARNING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

AT CROMER CAMPUS…

Provides for improved learning outcomes and participation in regular class programs for students with learning difficulties, and other  special learning  needs.

In 2007 we have a full time Support Teacher, (the  STLA) and a Teacher’s Aide one day per week.

How will my child be helped?

  • The Learning Support Team identifies and plans support programs for individual students and monitors their progress.
  • There are also  literacy and numeracy support groups where students  are withdrawn for intensive periods of remediation.

  • A Home Reading Program is also implemented for most Year 7 students and selected Year 8, 9 and 10 students as required.

  • The Peer Literacy Tutoring Program, a NSW DET and TAFE initiative, is also run daily to improve the reading and comprehension skills of approximately 20 targetted Year 7 students.

  • Curriculum Adjustments and Special Provisions for Examinations are provided on a needs basis to ensure all students have equal access to the secondary curriculum, from the beginning of  Year 7,  right through to the HSC.

AT CROMER WE SUPPORT STUDENTS EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE.
