Year 11
In the Senior Years 11 and 12 there is a wide range of general education and Dual Accredited Vocational Education courses, leading to further study at University, TAFE or direct entry into the workforce. The wide variety of courses enables students to achieve a sound general education, develop valuable communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills and to pursue, if they wish, sporting and cultural interests. We also offer exciting vocational study options that are relevant, interesting, practical and include the possibility of combining school, TAFE and even part time work.
Students wishing to follow a highly academic curriculum with access to high level university courses have the opportunity to study the highest levels of English, Mathematics and Science as well as a broad range of other academic courses. Students can also access senior courses at other campuses.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is an integral part of the senior curriculum at Cromer Campus. Whether students continue in further education at University or TAFE after their Higher School Certificate (HSC) or go directly into the workforce, the skills and competencies they gain through VET give them a significant head start.
The skills centre at Cromer Campus was established in 2001 with a grant from the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) and is the first of its kind established in a government school in NSW. It has provided state of the art industry standard facilities for the delivery of Construction, Hospitality, Information Technology, Metals & Engineering and Retail at Cromer Campus.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in TAFE delivered VET which includes the curriculum framework course in Tourism and the extension course in Information Technology.
At Cromer Campus we expect our senior students to mature and progress in an environment which encourages responsibility and self discipline and that values and caters for a wide range of interests and abilities.
Most students choose to complete their HSC in two years, however some students follow a flexible pathway which allows them to accumulate the HSC over a number of years (up to five for the HSC courses).
The HSC program of study is divided into Preliminary and HSC courses, with the HSC examination and assessment based on the HSC course component.
